Richard Phethean – bellied jug still life

This red earthenware wall-hanging bellied jug still life by Richard Phethean is mounted on painted board and was created specifically for the Aldeburgh Gallery show. Decorated using brushed slips and paper resist applied to leather-hard clay, the piece features bold graphic surface motifs characteristic of Phethean’s distinctive ceramic practice. The artist is pictured holding this work, which is signed and dated on the reverse.
