Chris Keenan makes beautifully glazed thrown tableware and individual pieces. A technically very gifted maker, this actor turned potter was apprenticed to Edmund de Waal before establishing his own London studio in 1998. Specialising in Limoges porcelain, his mirror black and rust tenmokus and deep celadons, often used in combination, are sensitively controlled and modulated, their chromatics deeply satisfying. When used for example on his small coffee cups and saucers, which feel so good in the hand, simple daily rituals take on a new sensory pleasure. Good design is his signature, the pots as succinct and direct as you will find in British ceramics.
