Strange Driftwood, or Life on the Med, is an ongoing project relating to the émigrés of the Middle East and North Africa which references their status as Mediterranean refugees. Amphora were the standard shipping unit of the ancient Mediterranean, ceramic objects that moved from shore to shore, carried by slaves, full of the commodities of the day: olive oil or wine or grain.
