Richard Phethean – jug diptych

This red earthenware wall-hanging jug diptych by Richard Phethean is mounted on painted board and was created specifically for the Aldeburgh Gallery show. Decorated using brushed slips and paper resist applied to leather-hard clay, the piece features bold graphic surface motifs characteristic of Phethean’s distinctive ceramic practice. The artist is pictured holding this work, which is signed and dated on the reverse.
