This is a hand built turquoise ‘curl’ burnished earthenware pot by Tina Vlassopulos. Tina has mixed a turquoise oxide into the clay, then constructed the pot using coils of the clay.Tina carefully hand burnished the pot when it was leather hard giving the pot a silky sheen. The direction of her stroke whilst burnishing gives the pot a sandstone-like grain. Tina has etched her mark into the base (pictured). This pot has not been glazed and cannot hold liquids.
