This is a thrown, altered and assembled black earthenware teapot by Richard Phethean. The teapot was decorated with brushed slips and paper resist on the leather hard clay to create the graphic surface motifs, then after bisque firing areas were selectively stained and wax resisted prior to glazing. Richard is pictured holding this teapot that he has signed on the base.
