Richard Godfrey’s ceramic sculpture coming soon

During our tours visiting some brilliant ceramic artists, Richard Godfrey stands out amongst them as the hardest working potter we have ever come across. Such is Richard’s creative output, Online Ceramics will be adding a second page in mid September, dedicated to his stunning one-off ceramic sculptures.

You can clearly see the influence of the south Devon coastline in these pieces. Evocative of the cliffs close by his studio, their rugged forms are juxtaposed against a wonderfully smooth white body. Richard has used a single oxide that provides the darker areas with red and yellow colouring giving the impression of algae that has built up over a millennia.

Don’t get alarmed, we still love and continue to stock Richard’s brightly coloured earthenware and will be adding a few new pieces in the next couple of weeks.
