Dish

This hand-thrown black earthenware dish is crafted by ceramic artist Richard Phethean. The piece is decorated at the leather-hard stage using brushed slips and a paper resist technique to create its striking graphic surface motifs. Following bisque firing, selected areas are carefully stained and wax-resisted before the final glaze is applied, adding depth and richness to the design. This dish has been signed on the base by Richard, who is pictured holding the item.
