Tenmoku stem vase

This wheel-thrown and altered stoneware stem vase by Francis Lloyd-Jones was first coated in tenmoku glaze before being salt-glazed during firing. The combination of tenmoku and salt firing gives the pot a deep, dark surface with lively tonal variation. Francis is pictured holding the vase, which bears his impressed potter’s mark on the base.
